My First 911 Book Launch at Weekend Auto Club, Shanghai

Some venues just fit. When Shawn opened the doors of the Weekend Auto Club for a My First 911 book launch, signing, and Cars & Coffee event, it was hard to imagine a better setting.

Shawn's garage is the home of the Weekend Auto Club — and it's every car enthusiast's dream. A beautifully designed warehouse-style space with modern industrial architecture and moody night lighting. Persian carpets line the floors and hang from the walls. Vintage cars sit alongside newer machines. It's the kind of place you walk into and immediately don't want to leave — the ultimate man cave, if there ever was one.

Shawn organised a Cars & Coffee alongside the book talk and signing, bringing the Shanghai automotive community together for an evening that felt completely natural in this space. Conversations about cars and stories, books being signed, coffee being poured — all surrounded by some seriously beautiful metal.

A big thank you to Shawn for hosting and putting this together, to Fender for translating throughout the event, and to everyone from the Shanghai community who came out. Nights like these remind me why I started this project in the first place — it was always about the people and the stories behind the cars.
